Ethan directed a senior thesis short film, building and leading a full-scale independent production with more than 30 cast and crew members.
pre-production involved assembling a production team of student collaborators across multiple class years and recruiting members of the surrounding community to participate in the film.
Working with local families, Ethan incorporated several child actors into the film alongside student performers with varying levels of experience.
Directing the project also involved overseeing multiple departments, including cinematography, sound, costume & makeup, and production design.
Ethan worked to create a set environment that was collaborative – and whimsical. Maintaining a sense of fun and play helped keep the cast and crew energized while working through an ambitious shooting schedule.
Filming was completed on a tight two-week schedule within the constraints of a limited student production budget.
